It is a bit tricky choosing the best weight loss program for yourself, given the number of options you have.
But as many others before you have learned, finding the most effective weight loss program that will work on you is not a one-stop process.
In some rare cases, the jackpot is hit during the first try. But in most cases, you won't find the best method during your first look. In fact, it often takes a lot of tries.
What you want to make sure, are these elements :
- Metabolic resistance
- Maintenance plan
- Metabolic Resistance
Besides the safety issues we talk about below pay in particular attention to this :
Your metabolic resistance 4-6 weeks into the diet program.
What is metabolic resistance ?
It is a fine term for weight plateu. Except for the first weeks into a diet - which is mostly weightloss because of lost water + muscle mass - this is the period that weight loss really start to happen.
Do you find yourself lose weight right around that time you are probably in for a very good ride on that particular program ;)
A few concerns on the way ;
Diet/Weight Loss Safety
Your first concern should still be your safety. If you are about to start on a diet program, make sure that it is safe.
Even when dieting, your body should still get the Recommended Daily Allowances or RDAs for the essential protein, vitamins, and minerals that your body requires. You will find articles on this site about just that.
Main reason for this is the goal of long term weight loss. A depleted body is essential vitamins and minerals is a tired body and a tired body is certainly not what you need to boost your motivation.
This should not be underestimated as a major factor in a long terms plan.It would also be best to trust the programs that don't promise miracles.
Instead, choose the ones that guide you through a steady but guaranteed process of losing weight unless you have a pressing need to lose weight rapidly, which should be handled more delicately with advice from a physician.
But even if you're not in a hurry, you should still have your chosen medication or program checked by a doctor or a nutritionist. This will help you make sure that you are healthy and fit to take the medications or engage in the program.
Also, a good weight loss program should come with a supplementary plan that will help you maintain your new weight after you've shed some pounds.
This is a sign of quality - if the quick-fix type program lacks this, there is absolutely no reason to even bother.
A few choices like that is the LA weight loss program (you can find a seperate article on the right hand side) as well as the all still going strong program from WeightWatchers (also a seperate in-depth article to the right).
Both these have been around for years and have showed good results through a sound, well planned program.
